St. Brigid of Kildare, Patroness of Ireland, was an inspiring woman of her time that continues to influence Celtic Christianity and certainly influences my spirituality. I was blessed to visit St Brigids Cathedral and visit with a Brigidine Sister at the Solas Bhríde Center for Celtic Spirituality. I also spent sacred time with God at the pilgrim site of St. Brigids Well. God is certainly with us! A brief description by Brigidine Sisters... Brigid, born at a major time of transition in mid 5th century, embodies in herself the pre-Christian Celtic and Christian Celtic spirit. She founded a double monastery for women and men in Kildare. Missionaries and migrants carried her spirit across the world. She is renowned as a spiritual leader, peacemaker, a woman of the land, an advocate for the poor and a woman of legendary hospitality -- values legendary for our time...
