St. Catherine Hospital and the Kansas Breastfeeding Coalition, Inc. (KBC) want mothers to know that breastfeeding is welcome anywhere. The KBC is partnering with businesses and organizations where mothers frequent. Interested businesses are provided with “Breastfeeding Welcome Here” window clings, table tents, or wall cards. Staff is educated about expectations in welcoming breastfeeding mothers. Within these businesses, mothers are welcomed to breastfeed anywhere patrons are normally allowed to be. If a mother wishes for privacy, staff may assist her in finding a suitable location. You are invited to learn more about the benefits of breastfeeding by calling Janet Colson, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, at (620) 272-2309. She is trained to give you the information and support. St. Catherine Hospital offers a free breastfeeding clinic held on Tuesdays and Thursdays without an appointment from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 2 p.m. Healthy baby weight checks, color checks, pump fit, technique instruction and infant feeding support are some of the services provided. The Breastfeeding Clinic is located in Suite 206 of the Medical Building above Fry Eye Associates at St. Catherine Hospital, 310 E. Walnut. Interested businesses can learn more about the campaign and pledge participation at ksbreastfeeding.org/Advocates.aspx.
