St. Claude Group 1 status update Sept. 9, 2014-The Department of Public Works’ construction contractor, Fleming Construction, as part of the Recovery Roads – St. Claude Group 1 construction project, is repaving portions of the roadway from Franklin Avenue to the railroad tracks at Press Street and from St. Claude Avenue to N. Claiborne Avenue. Crews will continue fine grading the roadway base throughout the next week and begin laying asphalt on Thursday, September 18. These work areas include: • St. Ferdinand Street (St. Claude – N. Claiborne) • Press Street (St. Claude – N. Villere) • 1100,1400, & 1500 Feliciana • N. Villere (Montegut – Louisa) • Urquhart (Feliciana – Louisa) • Montegut (Urquhart – N. Villere) A concrete crew will begin working on eligible sidewalks and Americans with Disabilities Act compliant curb ramps on Monday, September 15. These work areas will include: • Louisa (St. Claude – Burgundy) • Clouet (St. Claude – Burgundy) • Various locations throughout the project area In general, Fleming Construction crews will work from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Saturday work will only occur when inclement weather prevents work during the previous week. Residents are reminded to use caution when driving, bicycling and walking near active construction sites.
