St. Feuillien Triple from Brasserie St. Feuillien in Le Roeulx, - TopicsExpress

St. Feuillien Triple from Brasserie St. Feuillien in Le Roeulx, Belgium This is a large format bottle (25.4 ounces) that I picked up at Dorignacs in Metairie, Louisiana. It is a Belgian Abbey Ale - a Triple at 8.5% ABV. This is a typical corked and caged enclosure, but I had to use a pair of pliers to get the cork to free up and turn so that I could get it out of the bottle - Wow! From the brewery website: St-Feuillien Triple (8.5 alc. vol.) - This beer has a white, smooth and very compact head. Its pale amber colour is very characteristic revealing a distinctive maltiness. It has a rich aroma with a unique combination of aromatic hops, spices and the typical bouquet of fermentation - very fruity. Secondary fermentation in the bottle gives it a unique aroma due to the presence of yeast. St-Feuillien Triple has a very strong and exceptionally lingering taste thanks to its density and its long storage period. Whether served as a refreshing aperitif in summer or savoured during the winter months, the Triple is a connoisseur’s beer par excellence. The bottle label says this is a unique top-fermenting ale that has been brewed since 1873. This pours hazy golden in color with ample carbonation and a bright white head of fizzy foam. This is one of the classiest tasting Belgian Ales I have tasted. It is smooth and elegant and extremely balanced. The mouth feel is full and creamy. Loads of fruit tastes and smells - apples and ripe pears - coupled with the underlying malts and the Belgian yeast make for a refreshing quaff that hides the 8.5% ABV nicely. This is almost like a Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio with carbonation. This would work with a lot of different foods. As a final note, this had a lot of sediment in the bottom of the bottle (conditioning). With a swish or two, I was able to get that into the last glass, and it really hazed up the brew! Vitamin B for BEER!
