The Book of Esther states that Haman convinced the King of Persia to sign a decree to kill and destroy all the Jews living in every province that resides under the Kings authority. The decree was signed on the 13th day of the 1st month of Nissan: ESTHER 3:12-13 Then were the kings scribes called on the THIRTEENTH DAY OF THE FIRST MONTH(NISAN), and there was written according to all that Haman had commanded unto the kings lieutenants, and to the governors that were over every province, and to the rulers of every people of every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language; in the name of king Ahasuerus was it written, and sealed with the kings ring. And the letters were sent by posts into all the kings provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take the spoil of them for a prey. In response to the decree to exterminate the Jews, Queen Esther called for a THREE DAY FAST: ESTHER 4:16 Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and FAST YE FOR ME, AND NEITHER EAT OR DRINK THREE DAYS, NIGHT OR DAY: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish. The three day Fast of Esther originally took place on the 14th, 15th and 16th of Nissan: Originally the Fast was observed by Esther and the entire people of Israel on the 14th, 15th and 16th of Nisan, immediately after Mordechai was informed of Haman’s decree and of the letter of annihilation which Haman wrote on the 13th of Nisan. This means that under the decree of Esther the Jews were not permitted to eat the Passover lamb which by law was killed and eaten on the evening of the 14th of Nisan. It is for this very reason that Jews around the world do not observe the original three day Fast of Esther. EXODUS 12:5-7 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: And ye shall keep it up until the FOURTEENTH DAY OF THE SAME(FIRST): and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein THEY SHALL EAT IT. THE RABBIS DO NOT OBSERVE THE THREE DAY FAST OF ESTHER BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE IT WOULD PREVENT THEM FROM FULFILLING THE OBLIGATIONS OF THE PASSOVER LAMB. UNION OF ORTHODOX RABBIS ...the Fast could not be permanently fixed for later years in its proper time (because fasting is not permitted during Nisan..) It took exactly 70 days for the King of Persia to issue an accompanying decree which stated that the Jews were commissioned to destroy, slay and cause to perish anyone who attempted to assault them: This countering decree was dated in regards to the same date in which the original decree called for the destruction of the Jews which was the THIRTEENTH DAY OF THE TWELFTH MONTH OF ADAR. ESTHER 9:1 Now in the TWELFTH MONTH, THAT IS THE MONTH ADAR, ON THE THIRTEENTH DAY of the same, when the kings commandment and his decree drew near to be put in execution, in the day that the enemies of the Jews hoped to have power over them, (though it was turned to the contrary, that the Jews had rule over them that hated them;) The THIRTEENTH DAY OF THE TWELFTH MONTH shifted from a day in which the Jews were to be killed by their enemies to a day in which the Jews plundered and killed their enemies. Since this day was still a day of war and bloodshed the Jews were commanded by Esther to yearly Fast on this date. However those who lived in the walled city of Shushan killed and plundered for two days being the THIRTEENTH AND FOURTEENTH days of the TWELFTH MONTH OF ADAR and therefore those living in walled cities similar to Shushan were commanded to Fast for two days being the THIRTEENTH and FOURTEENTH days of the TWELFTH MONTH. Therefore the Fast of Esther in regards to war and plunder is universally recognized as being the 13th or 13th and 14th days of the 12th month of Adar. However there is much controversy or differences of opinion in how the original three day Fast of Esther should be made up. The following expresses some of the varying concepts: THE FAST OF ESTHER - ORTHODOX UNION STAFF The fast which we observe is nevertheless not observed for a three-day period, as was the case with the original Fast, nor is it observed on the same date. Originally the Fast was observed by Esther and the entire people of Israel on the 14th, 15th and 16th of Nisan, immediately after Mordechai was informed of Haman’s decree and of the letter of annihilation which Haman wrote on the 13th of Nisan. Our Fast however, is observed on the 13th of Adar, in memory of the Fast observed by Israel on the day of their mobilization for war against the enemies. The Fast is nevertheless called by the name of Esther since it was she who first proposed its observance. Others hold the view, that even our Fast is also primarily a commemoration of the original three-day Fast observed by the Jews when the decree was announced. But since the Fast could not be permanently fixed for later years in its proper time (because fasting is not permitted during Nisan), the Sages therefore fixed it for the 13th of Adar – which was also a Fast day for the Jews, who then gathered to wage war against their enemies. And although the Fast of Esther is therefore a memorial to the original three days of fasting, the Rabbis were nevertheless lenient in fixing it for only one day. In deference to this view, there are some who fast an additional three days; on Monday, Thursday and Monday after Purim. Others voluntarily fast the night as well as the day on the 13th of Adar, since the original three-day Fast was observed night and day. Since the Fast of Esther is not one of the four Fast days which are specifically mentioned in the Prophetic Writings, it is observed with greater leniency than the other Fast days. Miraculously the Fast of Al-Khidr who is also known as Melchizadok takes place on the 12th, 13th and 14th days of the 12th month. He is known to Muslims as the immortal Al-Khidr meaning the Green One which is a reference to His role in restoring the Garden(Jannah). The Prophet Muhammad stated that he once sat on barren land and it suddenly became Green with vegetation. In this capacity Al-Khidr is also known as the Restorer of Life! Therefore not only does the numerics of the Fast of Esther coincide with the of Fast of Al-Khidr it also fulfills the meaning of the story of Purim as the Restoration and preservation of Life. In understanding the perfect relationship between the story of Purim and that of Al-Khidyr which are bound together by the Restoration of Life, the original 3 day Fast of Esther and the Purim Fast are both observed within the 3 day Fast of Al-Khidr. This Fast is known as Hizr Orucu. The defeat of Haman took place when the King of Persia returned from the garden and found what he perceived as Haman trying to ravish Queen Esther. In reality he was pleading with Queen Esther to save his life. At that point a servant of the King came into inform him that Haman was planning to kill Mordechai who had earlier saved the Kings life. The King became so infuriated that he ordered Haman and his sons killed on the very gallows that Haman had prepared for Mordechai. WHEN THE KING WENT OUT TO THE GARDEN HE MET AL-KHIDR WHO DIRECTED HIM IN ALL MATTERS OF WHAT MUST BE DONE! ESTHER 7:8-10 Then the king returned out of the palace GARDEN(KHIDR) into the place of the banquet of wine; and Haman was fallen upon the bed whereon Esther was. Then said the king, Will he force the queen also before me in the house? As the word went out of kings mouth, they covered Hamans face. And Harbonah, one of the chamberlains, said before the king, Behold also, the gallows fifty cubits high, which Haman had made for Mordecai, who spoken good for the king, standeth in the house of Haman. Then the king said, Hang him thereon. So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the kings wrath pacified. THE FAST OF AL-KHIDR - HIZR ORUCU The Fast of Al-Khidr or Melchizadok is a three day fast which takes place on the 12th,13th and 14th day of the 12th month of Adaru in accordance with the numerics of the SolarCalendar of Enoch. This equates to the 9th, 10th and 11th of February. Saint George or Al-Khadir is Satrio Piningit Republik of Indonesia If You want To Know Al-Khadir is Still Alive until now
