St John New Zealand Dear St John, merry xmas to all. Today I - TopicsExpress

St John New Zealand Dear St John, merry xmas to all. Today I come with a complaint. Today at about 4:05pm, my father was climbing a fence, hes 65 years old so not the wisest idea. Needless to say he fell down. My room is about 5 metres away from where he fell and I heard the thud of him landing hard. He shouted my name and I was there in a shot. He was lying on the ground in excrutiating pain and couldnt move at all. He kept saying my ribs are broken, everything hurts. This is a man with high pain tolerance so when hes sore I know somethings up. My mom came running and I told her to call the ambulance. However, when she dialled 111 and was put through to emergency she told the person on the other line what had happened and that hes lying on the ground and cant move and is in extreme pain. The person on the other end said THEY ARE NOT SENDING AN AMBULANCE OUT WE MUST WAIT FOR A NURSE TO CALL BACK. This in turn freaked my mom out as we were now powerless to help and unable to do anything to help my father who was now lying in the rain unable to move and in extreme pain. My mother, now highly stressed called back and was put through to someone else who she explained the exact same story to, she added Im sorry if I sound stressed out but we need an ambulance, after being put on hold the guy came back and said fine they will send an ambulance. Now we live in Glenfield which is approx 4.3kms from North Shore hospital. After that 2nd call was made we waited about 20mins before my mom called again to see where the ambulance was. It was another 10-15mins after the 3rd call that the ambulance arrived. My father was taken to hospital and is now waiting to be seen to. My issue here is the first call, being told that an ambulance would not be sent, and then after the second call, having to wait another 30+ minutes. You can tell me that they were busy but after speaking to the guy in the ambulance its clear they werent THAT busy. Im not saying you are to blame but whoever was on the telephone side has really made me and my family quite disappointed. Again merry xmas to all and safe holidays.
