St Johns students experienced a day packed full of fun and physical activity when more than 70 children from transition to year 6 got on their bikes and rallied around the schools new bike track. Today marked the official opening of the track - that was created by the NEGS maintenance team. NEGS Principal Mr Clive Logan, the schools gardener Shane Elliott and Senior Constable McCormack were special guests at the ceremony. The schools smallest bike enthusiasts – Transition – led the field with their teacher Mrs Catherine McCann and were followed on by a stream of older students. A tree planting and ribbon cutting ceremony were held to commemorate the event and Bike Safety lessons were held throughout the afternoon. Head of St Johns Junior School Ms Shannon Rosewood said the Bike Track came about as part of the schools LiveLifeWelll@school and Wellbeing programs and was proving to be a huge success. Phase 2, which is a stretch the length of the oval with humps and a skid zone, is already in the planning stage.
