St. Lucy, Virgin, Martyr Mass Propers: Saturday in the Octave of the Immaculate Conception: St. Odilia, Virgin; St. Jodoc, or Josse, Confessor: Our Lady of the Holy Chapel, Paris: Saturday of the Second Week of Advent: Double, Red: Introit Ps. 44: 9 Dilexísti justítiam, et odísti iniquitátem: proptérea unxit te, Deus, Deus tuus, óleo lætítiæ præ consórtibus tuis. Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; wherefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. Ps.44:1. Eructávit cor meum verbum bonum: dico ego opera mea Regis. My heart is inditing of a good matter; I speak my works unto the King. Graciously hear us, O God of our salvation: that, like as we do rejoice in the festival of blessed Lucy thy holy Virgin and Martyr; so we may learn to follow her in all godly and devout affections. Through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Second Collect of the Octave of the Immaculate Conception Deus, qui per immaculátam Vírginis Conceptiónem dignum Fílio tuo habitáculum præparásti: quæsumus; ut qui ex morte ejúsdem Fílii tui prævísa, eam ab omni labe præservásti, nos quoque mundos ejus intercessióne ad te perveníre concédas. O God, who in the foreknowledge of thy Sons most precious death didst consecrate for him a dwelling-place by the immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin: mercifully grant that she who was preserved from all defilement; may evermore pray for us until we attain unto thee in purity of heart. Third Collect of the Feria in Advent Excita, Dómine, corda nostra ad præparándas Unigéniti tui vias: ut per ejus advéntum purificátis tibi méntibus servíre mereámur: Qui tecum vivit et regnat, in unitáte Spíritus Sancti Deus, per ómnia sæcula sæculórum. Stir up, O Lord, our hearts to make ready the way for thine Only-Begotten, that through his coming we may be worthy to serve thee with purified minds. Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. The Epistle 2 Cor 10:17-18; 11:1-2 Fratres: Qui gloriátur, in Dómino gloriétur. Brethren: He who boasts, let him boast in the Lord. For he is not approved who commends himself, but he whom the Lord commends. Would to God that you could bear with a little of my foolishness! Nay, do bear with me! For I am jealous for you with a divine jealousy. For I betrothed you to one spouse, that I might present you a chaste virgin to Christ. The Gradual and Alleluia Ps. 44: 9 Dilexísti justítiam, et odísti iniquitátem:. Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity. V. Proptérea unxit te, Deus, Deus tuus, óleo lætítiæ V. Wherefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness. Ps. 44: 3 Allelúja, allelúja. Diffúsa est grátia in lábiis tuis: proptérea benedíxit te Deus in ætérnum Alleluia. Alleluia, alleluia. Full of grace are thy lips, therefore hath God blessed thee for ever. Alleluia. At that time, Jesus spoke this parable to His disciples: The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field; he who finds it hides it, and in his joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls. When he finds a single pearl of great price, he goes and sells all that he has and buys it. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net cast into the sea that gathered in fish of every kind. When it was filled, they hauled it out, and sitting down on the beach, they gathered the good fish into vessels, but threw away the bad. So will it be at the end of the world. The angels will go out and separate the wicked from among the just, and will cast them into the furnace of fire, where there will be the weeping, and the gnashing of teeth. Have you understood all these things? They said to Him, Yes. And He said to them, So then, every Scribe instructed in the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings forth from his storeroom things new and old. The Offertory Ps. 44: 16-17 Afferéntur Regi vírgines post eam: próximæ ejus afferéntur tibi in lætítia, et exsultatióne: adducéntur in templum Regi Dómino. Virgins shall be brought after her unto the King: her neighbours shall be brought unto thee with joy and gladness: they shall be brought into the temple unto the Lord, the King. Second Secret Prayer of the Octave of the Immaculate Conception Salutárem hóstiam quam in solemnitáte immaculátæ Conceptiónis beátæ Vírginis Maríæ tibi, Dómine, offérimus, súscipe, et præsta: ut, sicut illam tua grátia præveniénte ab omni labe immúnem profitémur; ita ejus intercessióne a culpis ómnibus liberémur. Receive, O Lord, the salutary oblation which we offer unto thee on the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and grant that, as we confess her to have been preserved, by they prevenient grace, from all taint of evil, so, through her intercession, we may be freed from all sin. Through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, ever one God, The Communion Ps. 118: 161-162 Príncipes persecúti sunt me gratis: et a verbis tuis formidávit cor meum. Lætábor ego super elóquia tua: sicut qui invénit spólia multa. Princes have persecuted me without a cause; but my heart standeth in awe of thy word. I will rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoils. The Postcommunion Satiásti, Dómine, famíliam tuam munéribus sacris: ejus, quaésumus, semper interventióne nos réfove, cujus solémnia celebrámus. Second Postcommunion of the Octave of the Immaculate Conception Sacraménta quæ súmpsimus, Dómine Deus noster: illíus in nobis culpæ vúlnera réparent; a qua immaculátam beátæ Maríæ Conceptiónem singuláriter præservásti. May the sacrament which we have received, O Lord, our God, heal in us the wounds of that sin from which, by a singular privilege, thou didst preserve immaculate the conception of blessed Mary.
