Stadium Seat Install Thanks: Dear Band Students and Families, Once again, all I can say is, “You are so awesome!” It amazes every year what you accomplish together! The initial install process was finished about 9:30 am, with checking and cleaning and restacking finished by about 11:30 am. Awesome students and directors, and awesome parents and families and friends – that’s what did it. A special thanks to all the student leaders and students Friday and Saturday – I heard many well-deserved compliments of your work and attitude. Did you know we had band student alums there helping as well on Saturday? Terrific leadership! And we had 56 students and parents for the Advance Team on Friday – who absolutely madeSaturday a successful, efficient install. Thanks to our super team leaders Friday and Saturday: John Alcorn, Ron Mattingly, Bill Kite, Jeff Bayerle, The Varbles, Tim Sorenson, Jamie Jordan and Mark Lowe. And thanks to the gator/forklift crews both days: Troy Cox, Bill Varble, Rob Carter, and Sam Birch. Thanks to Leslie Iwinski and the hospitality crew for all the snacks and water. Thanks to Kimberly Collins, Melissa Jones, Sandra Palmer, Michelle Alcorn and all the other verifiers and problem fixers. Thanks to Cameron and all the bundler/stackers of leftover chairs. Dan Sirrine sent some great pictures — thanks! (See HC Band FB page some of Dan’s pictures) There are so many to recognize, I’m sure to have missed some names. Special recognition and thanks, too, to Jennifer Barricklow and Tim Sorenson for all their help planning and leading the event. With their help, we seem to have resolved most of the install hardware shortages from last year. We tried a few other improvements this year, too, including changing how we clean the seats. Looks like that might work better if incorporated into the install group activities, so that might be the next plan. If you have any suggestions for how some aspect could go better, please send me an email. We’re always trying to improve for the next time and make notes after each event. Note that a pair of yellow knit gloves was found and will be available in the band room. Please return any borrowed tools or other found items you have to the Directors. Please don’t forget the seat removal (tentatively scheduled on Sat., Dec 7th). We put in one total yesterday (over 5100 seats) and will take out even more since many are added through the season (up to 7000 total). You are all terrific. Thanks for supporting all of the bands of our amazing band program: symphonic band, concert band, wind ensemble, percussion, marching band, jazz band, lab band and steel band!
