Staffordshire’s Community Arts Development Programme 2014-15 Staffordshire County Council’s Community Arts Fund helps to support Staffordshire’s communities in their access to a wide range of cultural activities. Community groups/arts/organisations are welcome to apply for up to £2500 to run an arts project which encourages long term arts engagement and supports community cohesion and development. The Community Arts Development Programme aims to provide specific funding opportunities for each of the 8 following district areas across Staffordshire, (excluding Stoke on Trent); • Stafford • Newcastle Under Lyme • Staffordshire Moorlands • South Staffordshire • East Staffordshire • Cannock • Tamworth • Lichfield Last year the fund helped to support various projects including; 1. A programme of multi-generational workshops at a range of community centres, after-school clubs, lunch clubs, and sheltered housing schemes in Newcastle Under Lyme as part of the Bread in Common Project. During these workshops participants turned their bread related memories and stories into collection of one minute films, through a range of art forms including, story-telling, creative writing, shadow-puppetry, photography, illustration and stop-motion animation. These films will be a key part of the final exhibition at the Borough Museum. 2. The Fuse Outreach Programme – children and young people who wanted to have a go at singing but have never had the opportunity were inspired and motivated by workshops and rehearsals to join the choir at Fuse for their first public performance and now, continue the activity by participating in the subsequent establishment of Lichfields first community choir. 3. Songs for You – Development of a singing project delivered over several sessions in the Cannock area to help improve the health and wellbeing of service users with dementia and their carers.
