Stagecoach in Sunderland information - “Sunderland Pride” parade in Sunderland City Centre on Sunday 1 September 2013. To ensure health and safety is maintained, a number of roads will have to be subject to a ‘rolling road closure’, and this will have a substantial effect on bus services. The parade is scheduled to commence from the Civic Centre at approx 1400, and parade via Burdon Road, Park Road, Toward Road, Borough Road, Fawcett Street, High Street West, St Michaels Way (southbound), Green Terrace, Vine Place and Stockton Road to Park Lane. Although our local authority colleagues will endeavour to ensure that the impact on bus services is as limited as possible, there is nonetheless likely to be traffic congestion in the city centre area, and this may result in disruption to bus services. During the temporary rolling road closures, buses will normally be required to wait behind the parade, or may use an alternative route if the congestion becomes too severe. As a consequence buses may be subject to delay, or may be temporary diverted around the affected area. As a consequence, buses might not be able to access their normal bus stops in the City Centre area during the parade. Stagecoach apologise for any inconvenience or delays that this parade may cause, which is due to circumstances beyond our control.
