Staggering at the realization that it is 25 years since we were in the midst of the maelstrom of the AIDS epidemic - our beloveds suffering, dying - we lived in a world of helplessness, and fury. An entire generation, our beloved downtown, shattered. A time of creative loss but also amazing activism. Karen Finley read at Participant gallery on Houston Street tonite, and we cried with grief and joy for the artists we lost but also those who survived. She is a genius and a gift. Black sheep, all of us.
