Stakelum’s Hardware U16B Mid Hurling Final Boherlahan-Dualla - TopicsExpress

Stakelum’s Hardware U16B Mid Hurling Final Boherlahan-Dualla 2-11 Loughmore-Castleiney 1-08 Drombane was the setting for a terrific final last Sunday evening with Boherlahan-Dualla sealing victory on the stroke of full time with a goal from Evan Dwan to quell any Loughmore-Castleiney thoughts of sending this final to a replay. The opening half was even enough with Boherlahan captain Tomás Ryan and Brian McGrath for Loughmore contributing three points apiece as Loughmore held a slim half time advantage 05 to 04 playing with the wind. Four minutes into the second half James Kirby was on the receiving end of good work by Evan Dwan and Hugh McCann as he smashed the ball to the Loughmore net from close range to put his side two clear. With Jimmy Cawley, Niall Manton and Ryan all adding points, Boherlahan were in the driving seat. But a surging run from Anthony Ryan out of defence paid rich dividends for Loughmore, when Brian McGrath collected Ryan’s delightful hand pass and lobbed the ball into the Boherlahan goalmouth. As the defence failed to deal with it Diarmaid Meagher shook the net to leave the minimum between them with ten minutes to go. Ryan hit over two points either side of McGraths pointed free, before Dwan opened his account to leave it three between them with four minutes left. Loughmore led by McGrath and Ryan tried desperately for the equalising goal but it was Dwan who proved to be the Boherlahan match winner. James O’Sullivan’s long ball from defence was caught by Dwan on the edge of the square as he sealed victory in a nervous last few minutes for the Boherlahan-Dualla faithful. Mid Bórd na nÓg Chairman, Joe O’Sullivan, with Pat Carey representing Stakelums Hardware Ltd. presented the cup to a jubilant Boherlahan-Dualla captain, Tomás Ryan.
