Standards and Standard Work--This is a summary (6+ minutes) from my monthly book club covering chapter 3 of Developing Lean Leaders. I posted a 2 minute version earlier. I make the point that standards are central to lean as they show as deviations which is the definition of a problem. Yet, it is dangerous to go problem hunting developing lists of problems and action lists as we generally know less then we think. The improvement kata provides a way to prioritize which deviations we will pay attention to and how we will deal with them scientifically.
