Standing in line behind a woman with two young children. She looked frustrated at not having enough money to pay for their food. I handed money to the cashier to cover what she lacked and the woman turned to thank me. She started to speak, but looked surprised to see it was me behind her. She said oh, you must not have known it was me. I smiled and said I saw who you were when I walked up. I hope you guys have a beautiful day. She mumbled a quick thanks, then shuffled off, looking a bit confused. Small town encounters with a woman who slept with your ex when you were still a couple can be a reminder that the guilt they feel lasts far longer than the betrayal you experienced years ago. #releasedandfree :)
