Stanthorpe Match Reports U7 Allora Pharmacy and Clancy Smith Water Services This week we faced off against another large contingent of players in Stanthorpe Under 7’s, on what was not the most pleasant of Autumn days. Again this week the players were split into two teams, mainly younger and older players, which provided a good amount of game time for the players. In the older team players showing strong efforts in attack and defence were Atticus Sullivan, Noah Gillam and Lewis May, with all three being try scorers. Jack Phelan was also in support of these players with strong runs. Showing a keen ethic in defence this week were Will Brasch, Nixon Eastwell, Brodie Hetherington and Seth Esson. Well done team! Our littlest warrior team showed promising football talent in the absence of the experienced members to lead the team. Great tackling efforts were seen from Malakai Steinhardt and Patrick Denny, George Philps and Harry Wright. Making ground with long runs up the field were Poppy Metztroth, Jack Dalsanto, and Jackson May. Our two smallest members of the team, Ziggy Gibson and Marty May, were there to offer support in defence along with David Malone, making a team effort. Try scorers were Poppy Metztroth, leading the tally, Jack Dalsanto, Corey Gascoyne, Harry Wright and George Philp. U8 Malcolm and Johnson Drilling Contractors A return to our home ground this week bought out the best in our team . From the opening kick off our strong defence was on show working well as a team, Stanthorpe had trouble breaking our line . Samuel Gilmore , Thomas Blake , Hamish Gartery and Jack Wright all worked hard in defence each racking up more than 10 tackles , Samuel with an impressive 18 . Strong running from Kasius Goodall and Thomas Blake got the team rolling forward enabling Ryan Gillam and Byron Joppich to show off their speed and evasive skills to score multiple tries with Ryan crossing for 4 . Hamish Gartery also scored 3 tries and Marty Warboys snuck in from dummy half to score his first try. Blake Pointon tackled well and had some good runs , Mitch Willett played well in his first game . Each week we show improvement and continue to work well as a team , Well done Wattles under 8s. U9 Cook Haul Pty Ltd NO GAME THIS WEEK U10 Eastwell and Sons Transport The team has gotten off to a very good start to the season with their win over Stanthorpe giving them two wins in a row. A good game with some good passing with Michael Shingles, Darcy Minnikin, and Darcy Gorkow giving great support. Liam Ruhle had a great game scoring 6 tries and kicking 1 goal. We must spread out more in defense. Many thanks again to the under 9 who filled in again, your help was greatly appreciated. U11 Clifton Auto Ag A sloppy game today for the 11s with poor boor control and ineffective tackles costing them dearly. This team this season will utilise the majority of the u10 team and I thank them for their services. William Denny, Michael Duncan, Liam Ruhle all had very good games in a losing team. The boys opened the scoring with a great ball to Will Denny that seen him score out wide with Lachlan Meacle converting. We went to the break 6-4 up. The second half was all Stanthorpe with our team failing to have depth in attack and clutching at tackles and a real lack of go forward, all points that we can work on in future games. Michael Duncans hard work also saw him awarded a great try with Ryley Lever converting.. U12 Ryanie for Tyres A dominant display again for this side saw them run out match winners to the tune of 36-0 after a half time lead of 16 -0. The score card cannot detract the effort the Stanthorpe boys put in to the game, our tackle count indicated the opposition were having many cracks at our line but our defence was solid for the entire game and on the back of this our scoring opportunities opened up. Our best defenders were Hunter Hamblin, Tom Philp, Wesley Lasserre, Jo Willett and Darby Peardon. Once again Jack Bashford had a outstanding game waking many hard runs, this boy has really matured with his game play showing that so far this season. Lachlan Harris, Clayton Brady, Travis McDougall, Declan Sullivan were responsible for many strong attacking runs, these boys need to continue this good work. Try scorers were numerous and we look forward to next weeks games against Suburbs. U14 Clifton Real Estate Today saw this group of young warriors stand tall with another dominant display against the Gremlins. Defence was very good and attacking flair was evident from the get go. Lachlan Henry is playing very well with his defence improving rapidly with many great ball and all tackles, Rory Moat is playing a brand of football that he has been promising for some time with great tackling and strong running a key factor. Payden Murphy is playing well at fullback with his kick returns strong, Mitch Potter, Regan Eastwell are giving great service with the ball and Darcy Brady is starting to settle into his position as 5/8 with some great vision. Dylan H Cullen once again had a very good game, running hard and scoring when he wanted too. We will be training twice weekly now with Tuesday night sessions at Platz Oval starting this week from 5pm.
