Star Herald, May 27, 1909. Washburn: Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Duncan and daughter, Mildred, had a narrow escape last Sunday afternoon while driving to Wm. Duncan’s. Passing Henry Randall’s the horse became frightened at a meat cart standing by the road side, and backed the wagon over the hill in front of Randall’s house. As they were going over the bank Mrs. Duncan and Mildred fell from the wagon and rolled down, escaping the horse and wagon by only a few inches. Mr. Duncan went to the bottom in the wagon. They escaped with some slight bruises, the horse and wagon not being injured a particle. It seems almost a miracle how they escaped so fortunately as the descent down the bank is about 15 feet.
