Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. This is the first time ToS has been made truly under the influence of Next Gen. Always ToS was setting the rules, developing the ongoing narrative, but with this film everything they do is informed by whats established in the first four seasons of Next Gen. All Klingon lore and culture in this is down to Next Gen ultimately - from the location of the peace conference to Spocks involvement (since we know Sarek was part of the process from Sarek). We even get an actor from Next Gen appearing as his Next Gen characters grandfather. Perhaps this is why Trek VI is one of the best Trek films? Because it is so assured and so intricately connected to the big picture of the Star Trek narrative in a way the other films were not. #startreksagarewatch2014
