Star date: 2:00 am Topic: Summer Intensives and Scholarships Sophomore Mom cant sleep. Has to make sure Lilys alarm goes off at 4:30 a.m. so her world doesnt come to an end. So.... Ive sliced an entire watermelon and Im biding my time. Ive been reading Dance Magazines since midnight, and am seeing all the ads for summer intensives. I thought I would take this wide awake opportunity to inform all the freshman dancers/parents about two very important - and very cool things right here in Atlanta - before you settle on something away from Georgia. Lily auditioned and participated in one of the best dance intensive experiences of her life last summer. Angela Harris of Dance Canvas knows her stuff and puts on a killer summer intensive in Atlanta. I wont use up space here for the details, but I am happy to give you more info if you want to message me. Angela and her team took Lily on the ride of her life as a dancer, a business person and a growing soul. She went in with hope and came out with self knowing and expanded determination. The end of intensive showcase was magical. It really helped that it was right in town here since we get 14 miles to the gallon on a good day. I highly suggest this program. Last year, auditions were at Pebblebrook. Dance Canvas is also known as DC NEXT. I would also encourage every freshman to audition for the Tim Redovian Memorial Fund Scholarship! A truly beautiful family of arts lovers, in honor of Tim Redovian, who has provided almost $290,000.00 in scholarships. You are welcome to donate to the Fund via the website. Were it not for the scholarship, Lily would have been doing her summer intensive via YouTube and yard work. We are eternally grateful - especially to Ms. Denise Ms. Edwards, Lonnie and Cindy... who have done a remarkable job with our daughter at CCCEPA. These are serious people who want to help serious people. Do your homework now, finding out when auditions are and then start planning. Auditions will be here before you know it. Well worth every single second of time you invest. Not everyone will get a scholarship, but the three week Dance Canvas intensive is affordable. It is a very successful program.
