Stark contrast - one who knows the law would push it to the extreme; one who doesn’t would pull it to the extreme. Our greatest legal debates happen in the United States Supreme Court; where one’s arguments about the law are tested and one’s legal greatness shines; our greatest debates about the future happen in the United States Congress; the people’s court; there one would discover extreme arguments supported by extreme behaviors and attitudes; these two institutions give life to the American idea of liberation. In small town courtrooms across America, liberation and the miscarriage of law collide every day; magistrates are conducting their courts as if to have full authority that of judges in the courts of jurisprudence. The truth is: magistrates aren’t elected by the people; in that; they don’t have the full authority of the people; they’re appointed as referees instead of judges with limited authority.
