Started me plum wine yesterday, i looked at different recipes, then by using bits i liked the look of, come up with my own. 5lb plums from me tree, washed and cut in half and take the pips out. Pour a gallon of boiling water over them in a sterilized fermenting bin, stir well, when cooled after an hour or so, add 1 crushed camdon tablet, stir well. Today i,l add a level teaspoon of pectolase, stir twice a day for 4 days, i,l add a little tannin powder and ctric acid (lemon juice), on the 4th day add 3lb of sugar and wine yeast, i may also add 250mls of grape juice concentrate. Very important now to fit an air lock to fermenting bin. More will follow ie from bin to demijohn to bottles if any one wants to have a go at making wine, its enjoyable, better than sitting on ones arse, a little gentle exercise. Me beer is fermenting lovely, spare bedroom smells like a brewery!
