State Department issued a worldwide travel alert warning U.S. - TopicsExpress

State Department issued a worldwide travel alert warning U.S. citizens about the continued potential for terrorist attacks, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa, and possibly occurring in or emanating from the Arabian Peninsula. Current information suggests that al-Qa’ida and affiliated organizations continue to plan terrorist attacks both in the region and beyond, and that they may focus efforts to conduct attacks in the period between now and the end of August. This alert expires 31 August 2013. Before attacking, terrorists often act suspiciously, in ways observable to an alert person. Security professionals therefore encourage Army Europe community members to stay alert and report suspicious activity (e.g., unattended packages). You can report suspicious activity to local police or through the USAREUR reporting page at eur.army.mil/eureport. What you report could be key to police actions to prevent an attack from taking place and/or to investigate an attack that has taken place. As a reminder, EUCOM and USAREUR policies prohibit the wear of military uniforms on public transport (planes, trains, and busses). When feasible, military uniforms should not be worn off-post. These steps help you keep a low profile and blend in with your surroundings.
