State budget update- our State legislators will be voting on the State budget today. We have received details and its impact on Floyd. Like I posted yesterday there is some good, somethings we dont agree with, but bottom line is this, this proposal is better than the Governors proposal and on the surface seems fair in its distribution. The Senators and Assemblyman did put more money into the GEA restoration which is a big plus for us and was one of our main advocacy points and we also saw an increase in our foundation aid. So, what does this mean, well first and foremost, I want to thank all of you for your advocacy, they addressed some of our main points and I know you had an impact. Credit needs to be given to our legislators who heard your advocacy and took it to Albany on our behalf. So this is a positive step forward. We still have GEA, but they greatly reduced it. So again thank you all for your advocacy and we need you all to stay engaged because advocacy is a year round effort and issues constantly come up. We will continue to use this group to bring you information about the issues as they come up and update you on information that is happening at our schools. So again, thank you and also express your thanks to our State officials who heard you. They also know we are informed and organized which is very helpful. Have a great day folks!
