State by State Achievements → Delta state Since taking office, President Goodluck Jonathan has followed through on the ambitious plans laid out in his Transformation Agenda, delivering significant achievements across all states of the nation. Below are some of his many achievements in Delta State: Agriculture: - Rehabilitated Oil Palm plantation in the state, which has resulted in over 15,600 hectares of oil palm plantation established by 2788 small oil palm farmers. - Ended four decades of corruption in the fertilizer sector. Implemented the e – wallet system for the distribution of agricultural inputs to farmers. - Implemented Dry Season farming projects. Aviation: - Remodeled the federal airport. - Installed the World Geodetic Survey WGS-84. - Commenced the installation of Aeronautical Information System (AIS) Automation, which is ongoing. Education: - Commissioned the Maritime University at Gbaramatu. - Established girls boarding schools across the state to improve girl-child education. Environment: - Completed the Capital dredging of the Lower River Niger from Warri (Delta state) to Baro (Niger State) 532km. - Implemented land reclamation and erosion control works projects in Kurutie, Gbaramatu Clan Warri South, and Idumuje – Unor Erosion Control Project. - Implemented canalization of Odobou – Ogbobagbene creek in Burutu LGA. Health: - Implemented NNDC Sponsored Projects: Nurse quarters, ultra modern Health Centre and Solar Powered Water project. - Established the SURE-P Project on Primary Health Care. Transport: - Brought rehabilitation of the Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Warri Std guage rail line to 77% completion. - Nearing completion on the Warri old port. - Conducted jetty construction at Ndoni. Water: - Nearing completion of the Ogwashi-Uku dam. - Commenced drainage and land reclamation structure at Koko, which is in progress. - Completed construction of the water quality laboratory and monitoring network, Asaba. Roads: - Completed road maintenance on Amukpe – Abraka –Umutu – Agbor – Uromi road. Power: -The Proposed $16B Gas City Project at Ogidigben in Warri South West Area of Delta State will host: A gas processing plant, a fertilizer plant and a petro chemical plant. Youth Empowerment: - Launched YouWIN grants, which have been awarded to youths in the state. - Launched the SURE-P youth empowerment scheme.
