State lawmaker wont give up free tickets without a payraise? Only in Arizona! Kookie state lawmaker Don Shooter, R-Yuma, said Tuesday hes going to keep taking free tickets from lobbyists unless he gets a raise. At first it appeared Shooter was playing off his comments as light-hearted, but then he said, “It costs a lot of money to do this job, there’s an opportunity cost.” Sen. Michele Reagan, a Scottsdale Republican, is the main sponsor of a bill and says the public is fed up with politicians taking gifts from people who want to influence their votes. In 2010 however, Reagan was one more than 30 lawmakers caught up in the Fiesta Bowl scandal where lobbyists for the bowl game lavished free meals, sporting tickets, and trips to football games across the country on lawmakers. Shooter, was featured here on Arizona State Capital-Follies last year, when Grandpa Went Wild at his grandsons school. Shooter, R-Yuma, faced three misdemeanor counts stemming from his confrontation with a teacher at his grandson’s high school. Police who investigated the March 22, 2013 incident had recommended assault charges against the two-term senator, as well as criminal trespass and a disruption charge regarding school classrooms.
