NDEM is in monitor status for the state of Nevada. National Preparedness Level for Wildfire Activity: PL 3 – MODERATE: Preparedness Level 2: Two (2) or more Geographic Areas are experiencing wildland or prescribed fire activities requiring a major commitment of National Resources Western Great Basin Preparedness Level for Wildfire Activity: PL 2 – LOW Preparedness Level 2: Increased initial attack activity is occurring. [cid:[email protected]] Wildfire Activity in Nevada: Nevada Division of Forestry (NDF) and NDEM are collaborating on providing wildfire activity information for the state of Nevada. As activity warrants, all fire updates will be included on this page. A Large fire, as defined by the National Wildfire Coordinating Group, is any wildland fire in timber 100 acres or greater and 300 acres or greater in grasslands/rangelands, or has an Incident Management Team assigned to it. · Light initial attack activity was reported yesterday with 16 new fires for 264 acres. · An additional 600 acres were reported on existing Large Fires. ELKO (EIDC): BLM, 1 human caused fire for 78 acres and 1 lightning caused fire for 0 acres. CENTRAL NEVADA (CNIDC): No new activity reported. SIERRA FRONT (SFIDC): Humboldt-Toiyabe (HTF) 3 lightning caused fires for 55 acres Incident: Evans Fire Location: West of Highway 395, Balls Canyon Area Acreage: 700 acres Jurisdiction: USFS Containment: 20% No structures are threatened at this time Incident: Clear Creek Fire Location: Hwy 50 West toward Tahoe from Carson. South side of 50 Acreage: 300 acres Jurisdiction: USFS, East Fork Fire, Carson Fire, BLM, NDF, BIA Containment: 25% ELY (EICC): BLM, 7 lightning caused fires for 1 acre. HTF, 1 lighting caused fire for 130 acres. LAS VEGAS (LVICC): BLM, 1 lightning caused fire for 0 acres. Park Service, 2 lighting caused fires for 0 acres. National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS): No Current Alerts The Secretary of Homeland Security has not issued an elevated or imminent alert at this time; we remain at a heightened level of vigilance. dhs.gov/alerts ELKO – NSTR LAS VEGAS – NSTR RENO – FLASH FLOOD WATCH The flash flood watch is now in effect for: * Portions of east central California and western Nevada; east central California, greater Lake Tahoe area and Mono. In western Nevada; greater Lake Tahoe area and greater Reno-Carson City-Minden area. * From noon today through this evening. The flash flood threat returns Thursday afternoon and evening. * Abundant moisture and light winds aloft will lead to slow moving thunderstorms with heavy rain. The areas at greatest risk for flash flooding are near small creeks and streams, urban areas and recent burn scars such as the bison fire in Douglas County. * Heavy rain may also lead to rock and mud slides near steep terrain. This may impact travel over mountain passes on Interstate 80, and Highways 4, 50, 88, 89, 108, 120 and 203. Have a great day out there and a big thanks to all of our fire personnel out there!
