NDEM is in monitor status for the state of Nevada. National Preparedness Level for Wildfire Activity: PL 2 – LOW Preparedness Level 2: Several Geographic Areas are experiencing high to extreme fire danger. Wildland fire activity is increasing, and large fires are occurring in one (1) or more Geographic Areas. Minimal mobilization of resources from other Geographic Areas is occurring. There is moderate commitment of National Resources with the potential to mobilize additional resources from other Geographic Areas. Western Great Basin Preparedness Level for Wildfire Activity: PL 1 – LOW Preparedness Level 2: One or more units experiencing moderate to high fire danger. Wildland fire activity is increasing and potential exists for Initial Attack fires to escape and become large fires. Resources within the Geographic Area appear adequate to manage the situation and moderate commitment of national resources is occurring. National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS): No Current Alerts The Secretary of Homeland Security has not issued an elevated or imminent alert at this time; we remain at a heightened level of vigilance. dhs.gov/alerts NWS-ELKO HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of east central Nevada, north central Nevada, northeast Nevada, Northwest Nevada and south central Nevada. Day one - today and tonight A cold front will push across the area producing gusty winds over central and Northern Nevada with the strongest winds over White Pine, Northeastern Nye and Lander and Eureka counties. Days two through seven – Wednesday through Sunday Thursday morning will be the coolest morning of the season with temperatures expected to drop into the 30’s with some spots especially across Northern Elko County dropping below freezing. NWS-LAS VEGAS NSTR NWS–RENO RED FLAG WARNING Gusty winds and low humidity south of Interstate 80 today Red Flag remains in effect from 11am this morning through 8pm PDT this evening for gusty winds and low humidity for the Western Nevada Sierra Front and Mono County. Affected area: Fire Zone 273 Mono-Eastern Alpine counties and Fire Zone 450 Western Sierra Front Winds Southwest 15 to 25 MPH with gusts 30 to 35MPH. Gusts up to 45 MPH possible in wind prone areas such as Galena and along the Highway 395 corridor in Washoe Valley and Antelope Valley. Humidity 10 to 18 Percent
