Statement by Chairman John Zody on Today’s State Board of Education Meeting “It is disappointing, but not surprising to see that Governor Pences Board of Education is trying to insert politics into our schools. I would ask Governor Pence what he is thinking, but he has been too busy campaigning for President in New York. Despite their best efforts to sensationalize things, the only thing Governor Pences Board learned during todays meeting was what we have known for the last year; that Superintendent Ritz has shown great leadership in turning around the Department of Education. We learned that Superintendent Ritz has been actively working with the federal government to maintain our waiver while also working with local schools to ensure they have much needed flexibility. I hope that the State Board heard that message today, so we can focus on Indianas children, not partisan bickering.”
