Statement by Dr. JP on the decision announced by the central government today: "The cabinet decision on AP division seems to be the exact replica of CWC decision of Jul 30. Then what is the exercise done for 64 days? Where is reconciliation of interests of all regions? This is a step to hoodwink people without resolving genuine issues. Congress and GOI have no will, capacity or credibility to bring about an amicable solution. They are playing with fire. It is a pity that pigmies succeeded nation builders like Patel. Present leaders are like small boys playing at an omnipotence. This is political failure and moral bankruptcy. This is a dangerous political gain that will prolong strife & hurt the nation. It is vital that a broad consensus built across all regions. There must be equal dissatisfaction for all. All interests should be protected. Division of a large state with surcharged emotions cannot be an object of short term electoral gains. It is time that Congress & BJP acted as responsible national parties. They should bring all stakeholders together & resolve issues."
