Statement by Fatah Youth Movement Palestine once again under attack The world stands witness of yet another massacre against our people. While we were still mourning those who were killed during the latest Israeli incursions and attacks by occupation forces and terrorist settlers, Israel, the occupying power, intensified its bombings against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, killing, in the last 24 hours, 27 Palestinians including 8 Children, and destroying tens of homes. These attacks are made possible by the total impunity Israel enjoys, despite its grave breaches of international law and its prolonged occupation that has no equivalent in contemporary history. Not so long ago, in a few weeks between December 2008 and January 2009, Israel killed over 1200 Palestinians, including 300 children, committing war crimes and crimes against humanity without any form of accountability. In November 2012, it again killed hundreds of Palestinians. Israel imposed a siege for the last 7 years against the Gaza Strip, thus imposing a collective punishment on over 1,8 million Palestinians. Israel intensified its illegal colonisation of our land, and multiplied its military incursions, including during peace negotiations. Its arrest campaigns have been uninterrupted with now over 6000 Palestinians being held hostages within its prisons. We, the Palestinian people, are still awaiting international condemnation of such blatant violations of international law, and such attacks against an entire nation, and its inalienable rights recognised internationally, including our sacred right to self-determination. Those who recognise the right of Israel, the occupying Power to security, should underline that no such right derives from the occupation of another country, and that this occupation is the source of all violence, and should be brought to an end at once. And if Israel, the nuclear power, has a right to security, including by bombing civilian areas, extra-judicial killings and indiscriminate attacks, all considered violations of international law, what right do the oppressed people have to ensure their security? The Palestinian people are entitled to international protection, and in the absence of such protection, are entitled to defend themselves, in accordance with international law. Any attack against the Palestinian people anywhere is an attack against the Palestinian people everywhere. As clashes continue in the different Palestinian cities, including Jerusalem, between unarmed Palestinians and heavily armed Israeli occupation forces, we reiterate that we can not and will not coexist with this occupation. Occupation and peace are incompatible. The first has to end to reach the second. Israeli actions are a test to universal values and international law, and the international community has failed for over half a century now to uphold these values and laws when it comes to Palestine. We however know the support our cause enjoys around the world, and we count on this support to end all forms of complicity with the crimes of the Israeli occupation, including passiveness. We call on the friends of freedom and justice around the world to pressure their governments into action, and to mobilise in order to help us end this new aggression. . From Palestine under attack, we urge you to act immediately wherever you are to help us end the aggression. We call upon you to ensure the protection of the Palestinian people from Israeli actions, by ending the assault against the Gaza Strip, the incursions and arrests in the West Bank, including in Jerusalem, and the repression against Palestinian citizens of Israel. Every minute lost, means new lives are lost. As we count the victims of this new assault, please remember they have names, lives they leave behind and loved ones. With each attack and airstrike, our humanity is tested. Only action can stop the massacre. Only justice can prevent revenge. Only freedom can lead to peace. On the 10th anniversary of the ruling of the International Court of Justice on the illegal Israeli wall which overruled all the security justifications presented by Israel in its attempt to legitimise its violations, the world should acknowledge that justice and accountability are long overdue.
