On September 8 (September 7 local time), at the 125th International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session held in Buenos Aires in the Argentine Republic, Tokyo was elected as the host city of the 32nd Olympic Games and the 16th Paralympic Games. 2. This outcome was achieved through the hard work and dedication by various parties concerned, with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Tokyo 2020 Bid Committee in the lead, as well as comprehensive support provided by the Government of Japan. The Government of Japan welcomes this decision as a significant achievement in the field of sports-based international exchanges. 3.
