Statement from Governor Hassan on PSNH CONCORD – Following Public Service of New Hampshire filing a motion at the Public Utilities Commission to stay the scrubber and the divestiture dockets in order to allow time for settlement discussions, Governor Maggie Hassan today issued the following statement: It is critical that that we take steps to reduce energy costs for New Hampshire businesses and families while also protecting the natural resources that make our state a great place to live and raise a family. By asking formally to explore a negotiated settlement on divestiture and the mercury scrubber, rather than wage a battle of protracted litigation and appeals, Public Service of New Hampshire is showing a willingness to compromise and participate in efforts to plan for an energy future that is innovative, reliable and affordable. I look forward to a process that ensures the best outcome for the people of New Hampshire, working in partnership with the legislature and all stakeholders, including businesses and ratepayers.
