Statement from KAHEA: Two things. First, the TMT projectʻs community outreach needs to be assessed in context. In order to acquire its permits to construct the TMT, the TMT Corporation agreed to distributing certain community benefits monies, partly as mitigation for desecration. So, when the monied-TMT corporation sanctions its desecration by dangling money in front of communities that need it - this is a question of justice and we need to understand it as such. Second, we need make Kamehameha Schools aware of the false compromises they are making by accepting this money.
