Statement from Turloughmore Hurling Club The committee, members - TopicsExpress

Statement from Turloughmore Hurling Club The committee, members and players of Turloughmore Hurling Club are disappointed by the recent decision of the Galway Competitions Control Committee to impose the sanction of forfeiture on Turloughmore Hurling Club which effectively removes Turloughmore from the Senior County Championship. Turloughmore Hurling Club firmly believes that the decision which was reached by the Galway Competitions Control Committee was substantively wrong. Turloughmore Hurling Club is heartened by the fact that the only independent determination of the entire dispute (by the Disputes Resolution Authority (“DRA”) on 11th October 2014), regarding the allegation that it breached Rule 6.7 of the Official Guide, unanimously decided in favour of Turloughmore Hurling Club. The DRA, by a unanimous decision, quashed the decisions of the Galway Competitions Control Committee and the Connacht Provincial Hearings Committee and remitted the matter for reprocessing. Regrettably, the Galway Competitions Control Committee has again misinterpreted the Rules of the Official Guide. Turloughmore Hurling Club has no option but to appeal the decision imposed to the Connacht Provincial Hearings Committee on Monday 3rd November 2014. Turloughmore Hurling Club fully intends to exhaust all avenues of appeal, in order to ensure the Rules of the Official Guide are interpreted correctly. Our senior hurling panel will continue to train in anticipation of this decision being over-turned and Turloughmore being restored to the county championship. Turloughmore Hurling Club would like to again thank all the clubs and the general Galway hurling public for their support during this process.
