Statement from the desk of Hon Thabitha Khumalo hereby issued for information purposes and for avoidance of doubt, an update from events of 19 April, 2014: The Byo Youth Provincial Council today (19 April) met and recommended the suspension of its Provincial Chairperson Bekithemba Nyathi on the following grounds: 1. Abuse of office: The chairperson acted as party treasurer on various occasions without both the knowledge and consent of the province, 2. Misappropriation of funds: The chairperson went and withdrew money from the treasurer and converted it to his own personal use, 3. Fraud and Sabotage: Eight months ago, the chairperson collected soccer balls meant for organising from youth national and failed to notify the province. 4. Boycotting both main and youth National Council, 5. Boycotting Presidential rallies, 6. Collaborating with police against the party: after the provincial executive held on 17 April, the chairperson brought police into our party offices for reasons better known to him, 7. Participating in organised violence: the chairperson hired thugs that disrupted our provincial executive meeting held on 17 April resulting in one of our youths being attacked and injured.
