Statement of Beliefs God There is One God, with three major functions, for which he operates in three roles (or three distinct and interacting persons). He has manifested Himself as God the Father, The Son of God, and the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost). Great is the mystery of godliness (1 Tim 3:16). Our understanding of God is limited because we know in part and see through a glass darkly (1 Cor 13:12). John 14:16-17, 14:26; Hebrews 9:14, 1 Corinthians 5:28, 2 Corinthians 13:14, 1 Peter 1:2, 1 John 5:7. Jesus Christ The Lord Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Son of Man. He is God manifested in the flesh, and the very Word of God incarnate. He was born of the virgin Mary, was crucified, died, and was buried for our sins. On the third day he rose from the dead with all power, ascended into heaven, and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father. Jesus is the creator of all things, and the judge of the living and the dead. Matthew 28:18, Mark 16:19, John 1:10, 1:14, 1 Corinthians 15:4, 1 Timothy 3:16, 2 Timothy 4:1. The Holy Ghost The Holy Ghost is also called The Spirit of God, The Spirit of Christ, and The Spirit of The Lord to name a few. The Spirit of the Lord moved upon the face of the waters in Genesis, conceived Jesus Christ in Mary’s womb, and currently fills hungry and thirsty believers with Himself. The initial evidence that one has been filled with the Holy Ghost is when he or she speaks with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. The Holy Spirit sanctifies, comforts, guides into all truth, and empowers the believer for service. Matthew 1:20, John 16:13, Acts 1:8, 10:45-46, Romans 15:16, 1 Corinthians 12:7, Ephesians 5:18. Salvation Salvation from eternity in hell is accomplished by confessing your sins, confessing that Jesus is Lord, and by believing in your heart the death, burial, and resurrection (which is the gospel) of Jesus Christ. His resurrection illustrates His power over death, hell, and the grave. Only perfection can enter heaven. The only one who is perfect is Christ so we must make Him our Lord and Savior so that he can credit us with His righteousness. From there the believer is to walk in the newness of life in Christ! The shed blood of Jesus Christ (Eph 1:7) and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only such as receive Jesus Christ by faith are born of the Holy Spirit and thus become children of God. Acts 4:2, Romans 3:23, 4:23-25, 6:23, 10:9-13, Ephesians 2:8-9, 1 John 1:9, Baptism Baptism is to be administered by total immersion in water. In order to be baptized, he or she must have made Jesus their Lord, and be mature enough to understand what baptism is. Repentance is our identification with his death, being baptized is our identification with his burial, and coming out of the water to live a new life in him is our identification with his resurrection. The one being baptized must repent of his or her sins, and should know that they are burying their old former selves as a type of burial. And just as Christ resurrected from the grave, the candidate being baptized should arise from the water with a new zeal of a reconciled life with God.
