Statement of Declaration Concerning the Violent Act of Hong Kong Police Force On behalf of Interdisciplinary Programs Students’ Union, HKUSTSU, Session 2014-15, this is an email to notify our members that with enough supports received these two days, our society has made a joint statement with HKUST Students’ Union on condemning the violent acts of Hong Kong Police Force. In respect to the student strike called by the Hong Kong Federation of Students, we would like to express our frustration and wrath on Hong Kong Police Force for using unnecessary violence against the vulnerable unarmed students in the street to suppress the occupation at the government headquarters. Using pepper spray and tear gas against the crowd is really unacceptable, and the incident resulted in a number of casualties. Regardless of one’s political stance, our society respect any individual views. While we fully support members to express their concerns in a non-violent manner, such as class boycott or occupying Central with Love and Peace. After all, we would like to fight for: 1) Opening Civic Square and Tim Mei Avenue for masses to use 2) Resignation of Chief Executive CY Leung and Political Reformation team 3) Withdrawal of “Methods for Selecting the Chief Executive” 4) Civic Nomination We hope Hong Kong can regain the universal values. There is always zero tolerance on excessive violence. Democracy is the attribute that all people crave. We wish the campaign a success, and make Hong Kong a better place. Best Regards The Executive Committee Interdisciplinary Programs Students Union, HKUSTSU Session 2014 – 2015
