Statement of Facts #orderofmotherearth Black women have triple the maternal mortality rate of white women in America and face an increased likelihood of having a low-weight baby or one that dies within the first three years. Black women experience a maternal mortality rate three times that of white women. At 36 deaths per 100,000 live births,v the maternal mortality rate of Black women rivals that of some developing nations around the world. In fact today, a woman in Lebanon has a much greater likelihood of surviving childbirth than does a Black woman living in America. Infant mortality too is especially prevalent within the Black community. Babies born to Black women are 2.3 times more likely to die as those born to whites.
