Below is his statement after the consultations: • I briefed the Security Council on recent and sobering developments in this urgent meeting on Yemen convened this afternoon. Members of the Council are all concerned about the dangers facing the transition. • I told the Security Council that the transition is at risk of collapsing, and explained that implementation of the Peace and National Partnership Agreement is the only way forward. The Agreement is all based on the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference, and provides Yemen’s best hope to overcome the current crisis. • I further told the Council that the UN will remain engaged and committed to assisting with the implementation of the Agreement. I hope that all sides will cooperate in good faith to move the transition forward. • In this regard, I welcome the appointment of the new Prime Minister, Khaled Bahah. This is one step forward. Now swift action is needed to ensure the formation of the government. • I left this meeting convinced that the Security Council will spare no efforts to support the Yemeni people in their legitimate pursuit of peaceful change.
