Statement on the attack against the AMISOM base in Mogadishu, Somalia: Last weeks attack carried out by Al-Shabaab against the Halane base camp of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), within Mogadishu International Airport, is a stark reminder of the terrorist threat in Somalia. The EU express its condolences to the victims and the families of those who have lost their lives and pays tribute to the troops and police of the AMISOM contributing countries for their support to Somalia. It will remain a staunch supporter of AMISOM and the Somali National Army (SNA) in their efforts to bring security and stability to the country. The EU also remains strongly committed to support the Somali people in rebuilding Somalia.
