#Statin_induced_myalgias. Studies suggest that there is a 20% to 50% reduction in serum levels of #coenzyme_Q10 in hypercholesterolemic patients aft er a statin has been initiated. The reduction in coenzyme Q10 concentration is believed to be dose- related. Several studies have evaluated the effect of coenzyme Q10 supplementation in patients taking statins. When coenzyme Q10 is given 30 to 300 mg/day, coenzyme Q10 serum concentrations significantly elevate. However, a systematic review of studies showed that exogenous coenzyme Q10 did not improve statin-induced myalgias.
