Station 26 Its Easier Done Than Said SOUL-SOUL Dont Connect Role to role. Connect Soul to Soul There are two ways of looking at one another: The deeper level and the superficial level. The superficial level has to do with our personalities. The deeper level has to do with our foundation, our core. Personalities may change over time, depending on circumstances, but real content and substance of who we are is unchangeable. Think of our personality as a pair of glasses. When we look through the lenses of ones own personality at another person and their personality, conflict may arise. Because our differing lenses give us differing perspectives, personalities may clash. Ones deeper sense of self looks beyond the personalities of others, and sees their selves as well. This is how true connection occurs. when one comes from their deeper self, rather than just from their personality, they are able to stay rooted regardless of the circumstances. Their content doesnt change depending on the context. What is the real difference between ones personality and ones deeper self? Personalities are generated based on familial and social teachings of ones life. There are essentially four personality types. One who loves to have fun:The life of the party. One who loves to help others:The rescuer. One who love to get things done:The go-getter. One who loves logic more than anything else:The analyzer. It is possible for someone to have one kind of personality as their foundational, or most dominate personality, and another that represents a minor aspect of their social self. Based on personalities only, people usually hang out with their own tribe. They will often label differing personalities as: Confrontational Lame Offensive Goofy Rescuers, people who love to help and rescue others, often feel that the go-getter are confronting and aggressive. They resent the aggression they perceive in them. For example, a businessman or woman whose personality is of the rescuer/amiable relater type often becomes like a deer in the headlights when someone with the go-getter personality communicate with them. They often go into the state of fight or flight, and block out what they think of as confrontation. The go-getter sense this withdrawal and sees the amiable realtor as lame, too slow in their thought process. Meanwhile, the life of the party is often too goofy for someone whose personality type is analytical, and who goes to great pains never to appear foolish. The life of the party often finds the analytical person to be boring, lacking in joy or personality, always mired in facts and figures, missing the point, which is to enjoy ones activities. Here is critically important information about personalities: They will change due to circumstances. Rigid, one-dimensional personalities often find it difficult to connect with others. People who operate based on their personalities only are often either defensive, shy, guarded, or sensitive. WHAT IS THE SOLUTION TO CONNECT BETTER WITH ONESELF AND THEREFORE OTHERS? Look soul to soul rather than role to role. There is so much more to all of us than just our personality traits. The soul within each of us is of far greater scope than the personality attributes we have picked up, often unconsciously, based on familial and social examples.
