Statistics Canada reports that the cost of groceries has risen 10% in the past year. Part of the reason is that the cost of farm inputs and transportation has risen by about that same amount. Interestingly, prices of food at the local farmers market have not risen accordingly. Where it used to cost shoppers a little more to purchase fresh local foods, now we find ourselves priced quite competitively... just dont ask about our profit margins...
