SSI Editor-in-Chief Scott Goldfine participated in the tour. You can view pictures he snapped on site here. The Statue of Liberty reopened to the public on July 4, following eight months of renovation and repairs due to the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy. As part of this refurbishment, Total Recall reached out to the U.S. Park Police, National Park Service (NPS) and the Department of Interior (DOI) with a state-of-the-art surveillance system proposal that would be designed, installed and maintained as a donation by the company. Total Recall redesigned the Statue’s surveillance and security system from top to bottom by bringing together nine state-of-the-art technology vendors. Today’s IP-based, all-digital security solution enhances public safety and improves operational efficiencies at the Statue of Liberty National Monument and Liberty Island. In this new upgrade, Total Recall and the technology team migrated the Statue from outdated analog CCTV to the latest in digital video technology to enable the park to cover areas with high-quality video surveillance that they could not reach before. Additionally, the team constructed an intelligent and ultramodern command center to help the NPS and U.S. Park Police do their jobs more effectively. Following is a list of the technologies selected by Total Recall for the installation: Axis Communications: 140 IP cameras BriefCam: Video Synopsis software solution that enables law enforcement and security personnel to review hours of surveillance video in minutes DragonWave: packet microwave radio systems for carrier-class mobile and access networks Milestone Systems: video management software RGB Spectrum: enable multiple video feeds to be broadcast on the massive video wall in the new command center using its Broadcast Network Processor (BNP) Pivot3: digital storage and compute devices Proxim Wireless: advanced indoor and outdoor wireless radio systems Scallop Imaging: several 200° panoramic cameras used on the perimeter for situational awareness Winsted Corporation: ergonomically designed command center consoles “The National Park Service and Statue of Liberty National Monument greatly appreciate the donation of the state-of-the-art, comprehensive security system developed by Total Recall,” U.S. Park Police said in a prepared statement. “This system has already helped the park not only maintain the security of the park through a busy summer, but has also aided visitor services by helping NPS employees respond promptly to visitor needs.” Source: securitysales
