Status Update: Finally, I have something to report on Anantnag. Sanjay Zutshi (a Twitter follower) connected with his brother (cousin) Sanjay Bhat who is in Anantnag. This is their report. In Nai Basti, Anantnag, water was earlier covering one floor. Now it appears to be at 6-7 feet (Thank God). In the Bijbehara area, situation is still bad. Zurpora, Gantalpora, Nilandrus, Marhama, DC Office are submerged. Water levels in some places is 7-8 feet (could be more in some areas). Khanabal is also badly affected. Sher Bagh, Nagbal have about 4-5 feet of water. Lal Chowk, Anantnag has about 6 feet of water. The good news is that in many areas, water is receding but the bad news is that Sanja Bhat reports that he hasnt seen any relief activity in many areas. He went from Sirhama to Aqura via Mattan and then Anantnag. Sirhama etc. dont have problems but Anantnag and Bijbehara and areas near Khanabal need rescue and relief. I hope through this post, some of you get some idea of where the problems may be and which areas are relatively safe. I will keep positing information that I get from the ground.
