Status of India & Indian Doctors This is for the kind information of the public. So share it pls Life expectancy in India was 32yrs in 1947 and in 2014 its 67.3 yrs. Infant mortality ratio 145.6 per 1000 live births in 1947 and today it is 42 per 1000 live births. Maternal mortality ratio was 2000 per lakh live births in 1947 and now its 212 per lakh live births. Small pox the dreaded disease which killed millions of people has been eradicated in India in 1975. India has been declared polio free in January 2014 by WHO. WHO report says AIDS related deaths have significantly reduced in India. A disease which the society has kept aside. People fear to talk to them, companies refuse to employ them and even schools deny admission if the kid is HIV positive and the worst is their own family members ignore them and divorce. But medical fraternity is the only people who touch and heal them, deliver their babies, do surgeries and rehabilitate them. Syphilis has been almost eliminated. Prevalence of Leprosy, which was a huge challenge to this nation has been brought down to less than 1 per 10,000. Tamilnadu is considered as the health capital of India. Ask any NRI. They happily work and earn there. But once if there is a health issue they catch the next flight and come here. India is the prefered destination for medical tourism. People from all over the world are thronging here for just one reason Quality health care at affordable cost AND MUCH MORE. .... All these goals were achieved not by magic or miracle. It was possible only by the untiring efforts of thousands of doctors by sacrificing their family and personal life slogging to take care of your health. Before passing any derogatory comments about the medical fraternity please think twice.
