Status update for Tammy Mann Thaxton: Met with the doctors - TopicsExpress

Status update for Tammy Mann Thaxton: Met with the doctors today for her 3 month checkup. Spots are still show minimal growth and her CEA levels in her blood have increased a little bit. Dr. believes this to be a good thing. Believe that the spots are still 30% less than when she started chemo in June of 2013. They feel that it would be best to go back on full chemo at this point and try and maintain those gains even longer. Tammy has been very lucky in that her maintenance chemo worked so well and for so long, The average time most people get on maintenance chemo is four to six months. Tammy was on it for nine months. What a blessing it has been. The clinical trial that they were interested in is full at this time and she is on a waiting list. They are in the process of doing more genetic testing on tammys blood and tumors. before they tested 50. this new test will cover 400. this is significant because if they can isolate one that is different the can better determine a trial that will help tammy more and it opens up a lot more options for different trials. Overall it was a good appointment. We were expecting to go back to full chemo at some point. She will still be going in for chemo every two weeks. Going back on full chemo will mean that she will lose her hair again. Thank you all for all of the love and support. We do not know what we would do with out you.
