Status update from Uganda! After a full week of travelling around the country, literally spending days on end in a car on the worst roads ever ever ever made, we are back in Entebbe in a hotel with electricity and internet. Hooray! I have seen the most abject poverty amidst the most amazing natural resources. Anything can grow here and does, but so many of the people are still barefoot and subsistence living. Even though they are dirt poor, practically every child we passed on the road would smile, wave and yell "hello Mzunga" (white tourist). If anyone ever complains of government corruption or crappy roads in America again I will have to just sigh and shake my head. We also went to the Queen Elizabeth national park, saw the source of the Nile, and have been up close and personal with a lion, leopard, countless elephants, Kob (like an Impala), hippos, Cape buffalo and crocodiles and Walt even got within 3 meters from a silverback mountain gorilla. Hope all is well in the rest of the world.
