Stay In The Word “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine and doeth them I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock.” Matthew 7:24 KJV. Every believer must conduct his life base on the scriptures. The Bible says it is the hearer and doer of the word that is blessed in his deeds (James1:25). Jesus said in Matthew 7:24 “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock”. So hearers and doers of the word are wise people while those who are hearers and not the doers are foolish. And those are the people that cannot withstand the storms of life. You must therefore discipline yourself and pay the price to stay in the word. Often times, it is not comfortable but it is very vital and important. The bible says, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God” (Luke 4:4). A child of God who wants to go far in God must stay in the word. If you want to hear God say “this is the way, walk in it,” then you must discipline yourself to order your life in the word. The truth is that God is speaking but there are many things catching your attention. When you are distracted, there is no way you can hear the still small voice of God that tells you: “Don’t go this direction, there is a danger there”. Romans 8:14 says “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God”. When you stay in the word, you become conversant with the voice of God so that even in the midst of many voices you will know this is God speaking to you. When you embrace the discipline of reading the entire Bible every year, you will become so conversant with the stories of the scriptures that no one can deceive you. At this time that there is so much deception all over the place, you need to discipline yourself and stay in the word. Stay in it, Read it. Listen to tapes. Buy good books. Listen to Christian music. They will build you up and strengthen you. I declare to you today that as a child of God, you will know the mind of God and walk in it and you will not be deceived in Jesus name.
