Staying alive in Nigeria is a big project. It is an uneasy task. - TopicsExpress

Staying alive in Nigeria is a big project. It is an uneasy task. You battle with air pollution, incessant blackout and bad roads. You struggle to get drinkable water. You virtually fight in the bank to collect your own money from the counter where the female worker would eye you intermittently for tips, push forth her exposed cleavage so you can see how much she is worth or she ignores you for life once you can’t detect her pulled strings. At the other end of the spectrum, there are the ever efficient Boko-Haram bombtards everywhere. They bomb anything - humans, animals and insects. Yet you leave your house for your daily hustle and return alive. You think its by your might? Your relations have had no reason to cry and throw curse words to God. Yes, you lost a loved one and you must have felt God is unfair to your lineage. My dear, everything happens for a reason. You probably made trips across Nigerian states. You flew economy class and you arrived alive. Those whose plane crashed - first class tickets didnt guarantee them life. Some even crashed with their jets. You saw accident scenes or you heard them through your effervescent friends on Facebook and Twitter - those who share horrific videos and pictures without remorse and compel you to share it or type a ‘yes’ to watch a magic unravel or be cursed for life. Few weeks ago, some area boys cornered you and collected your phone, money, wristwatch, clothes and your only shoe. They pointed a gun to your head and the bullet did not discharge by mistake. You walked home with boxers, barefooted and broke. Now youre using a Nokia torchlight phone or worse still a china pink berry. You now do not have constant access to Facebook, Twitter and IG - but you still have access to life. Oluwa was involved. Government pays salary one month and three weeks after youre due- even when newspapers and campaign adverts carry a different story. But you pay your bills and feed - sometimes with quadratic formula and Pythagoras theorem. Upon all these, youre still healthy and hearty. Few months after your man broke your heart and your asampete jilted you for a Chevron engineer, you finally met the man/woman of your dreams - only to be heartbroken and jilted again. Bros take heart - where there is life, there is hope. If I survived my own, so can you. Hallelujah. Youve been wanting to study medicine/law/engineering all your life. After 5 years of writing JAMB and Aptitude test, you were finally given Home Management and Caretaker Technology. Please, give glory to God. Life is not by what you read in the University - show me a man who is diligent in his business for he shall sit before kings and not mean men. Can I get an amen? And before you regret why you spent 4 or 5 years in the University, one year of cumulative strikes and one year of NYSC - when you still cannot afford a job, remember youre still alive. My broda, na this life sure pass. Once you don cross go the other side, you don cross. No CV is needed at the other side. The other day you had fever, headaches, body pains, and poor appetite. You were so ill that it was as if you were going to die. They said it was malaria. Before you thank God for healing you with the ministration of Artemeter and Lumerfantrine, be grateful it wasnt Systemic lupus erythematosus or Neuroleptic malignant syndrome. You are a lucky Nigerian chap. You have survived all these traumas- hence you need to celebrate well. Don’t mind anyone who will tell you otherwise - the caterpillar did not become a butterfly in one day. Why not give thanks to God
